I'm not yet very experienced with wine, but I'm finding that I am very fond of the sauvignon blancs produced in New Zealand. I've tried a few - each vinter creates a slightly different character, but they are all absolutely delicious.
Wine appreciation is a sacramental experience, in my opinion. When you get serious about wine appreciation, you engage all of your senses in experiencing the wine... color, smell, taste (oh, the many flavors!), touch, and even sound... This is a fully engaging experience. Nothing is rushed - if we savor each day of our lives in the same way a wine connaisseur savors a sip of wine - the world would be a different, and very beautiful place. And none of us would leave the world feeling shortchanged.
The reminder to savor life - in my opinion - is one of the many virtues of a glass of good wine.
